In this semester, I've collaborated with many artists, gained a general knowledge in musical theory and the culture surrounding music, completed and released 3 songs and I am still working to complete my S.M.A.R.T goals. My one highlight was the musical performance I put on at school. This event made me realize the impact my music can take on my listeners and that I still had room for improvement. I learned as a musician, there is way more to making music than lyrics and a beat. Music requires a high level of creative to create music that matches the topic your trying to discuss. Since I came into the music program, I've started to become more creative and started to take big steps into becoming a musician. The biggest challenge I've faced since coming into the program and into the whole grade 10 year in general is procrastination. Every time I went into a writers wall or fell back on homework, I've struggled to find motivation to continue. Although my procrastination still affects my work today, I will use the advice that I've learned through time management to always give a constant effort and prioritize my work above anything else. My goal for this next semester is to always find free time to write songs at home or while I'm outside. My second goal is to just put a more consistent effort towards my school work.

In the couple weeks before this blog post, our whole music class have been focusing on procrastination, prioritizing and time management. While creating a well thought out schedule, I managed to find a couple of unused hours at the end of all my days. So when my day ends, I will make good use of this. For my website research project, I will use the time given in class and the spare time I also mentioned. For the rest of my school year, I will also complete outgoing assignments, work in other classes and work towards my music S.M.A.R.T goal within school time and spare time. This will be the number 1 priority for the rest of the school year. When I do not have anymore work to do, I will use my spare time to hangout with friends or work on my second S.M.A.R.T goal. By the time school ends, everything I need to do (plus more) will be done.
Before the concert, I practiced for days on end so I could perform as good as I could. Thank god I practiced because without it, I wouldn't perform on the same level I did yesterday. My partner Spencer did alright on his first performance. He could've done better. He was nervous and messed up on his lines. I don't blame him though, everyone gets nervous on stage (especially on their first time). Personally, I couldn't wait to perform. I was very excited for people to listen to my new music. During the performance, there was 2 people watching (my parents). So I wasn't really that excited to perform because I expected more people to come. After the performance, I saw some mistakes in my performance and I will continue to fix my issues. Next time we get a performanceI would want more people to come by advertising the event with posters, announcements and etc.
Firstly, I want to thank you for coming here to read my first blog on my website. I am a grade 10 artist and I’m going to be 100 percent honest with you right now. English and blog-writing is not my speciality. So, sorry if I’m sloppy or improper but hopefully you can bear with me for the rest of my journey. Today I will tell you about my 2 SMART goals. Smart goals are an abbreviation standing for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely goals. One is personal and the other is music related. My music goal is to record and release 5 well developed songs before the end of the year. My personal goal is to improve my basketball skills. I am looking to improve my overall game in the course of 2 months. I will be practicing every weekday until the end of the year. I think this goal is attainable because the gym is very easy to access, it is only a 5 minute walk from my house. The only way I can do both of these goals is to practice and produce results almost everyday. Either by practicing on the court or writing and making tracks on my spare time. Thank you for reading my first blog, leave a comment for any questions or compliments you have!
